Visited this spot during a weekend trip to Paso Robles. I was a bit hesitant to dine here after looking at pictures on yelp, however I had a pleasant experience. My boyfriend and I ordered the Ahi appetizer and it was really good. I did wish it was a little less onion flavored but I thought the dish was a good portion and tasted good overall. It came with 6 chips. We def needed more, so we also ordered chips and salsa. We used the chips for our ahi app. Now for the salsas, we absolutely loved the salsas! I did not get a picture but it comes with a pico salsa, green salsa and a spicy red. The pico was spicy but I would say our favorite! The chips are fresh and warm too. For our meal we both ordered tacos. I got the ahi tacos and he got the short rib tacos . Both of the tacos were good! I was worried when ordering because the pictures I saw on yelp were not too satisfying for me, but they had great flavor! Also the tacos come with 4 tacos. The ahi was nice and fresh with a creamy sauce. Super savory. The short rib was also great. The meat was tender and had a spicy orange sauce. It had a little kick, but not to a point where it was overwhelming. It was just right! We also ordered the watermelon mint and the strawberry basil margarita. I'm pretty picky with tequila and these were good drinks. Nice and refreshing! $16.50 each As far as price, the food is a little pricier than I would expect but service was great and food was fresh. I would come back to try other menu items in the future!

3.75 stars rounded up. Fish Gaucho brightens up the corner it resides on with its rustic charm & lively atmosphere. Though I could've gone for seafood, as the restaurant name suggests is their speciality, I wanted nachos (as I often do) & theirs came with turf rather than surf; the cleverly-named Oaxaca Flocka Nachos ($20.50) was topped with wagyu ground beef which had a strong, beefy flavor. I also enjoyed the Oaxaca queso blanco, which was a bit spicy & melted beautifully, as well as the chunks of fresh avocado & pickled onions which the rich dish desperately needed. High praise from both my bf for his Flat Iron Carne Asada ($33) after he added S+P & for our dining partner's Ceviche del Dia ($16) made with halibut. Non-oily chips & well-made guac appetizer ($12.50.) Strong tequila-based Watermelon Mint ($16.50.) Refreshing agua frescas but a little light in flavor -- Mint Limonada & Tropical Mango were $8.50 each. Pretty good modern Mexican food, albeit smallish portions for the price. Satisfying first meal at Fish Gaucho but doesn't call for a second visit, as I've tried everything I wanted from their menu.

OMG! I came here with my friends after a day of wine tasting in Paso Robles and omg.. I was NOT expecting too much since I go to Mexican restaurants all the time back home BUT I have never had a better enchilada soup before! I was not expecting it to be that great but now after having it tonight I definitely have to come back again during this trip to get it again! The fish tacos are amazing here as well and the rice and beans is phenomenal!

One of favorite spots in Paso! The fish can't get any fresher, the drinks are always perfectly balanced, the food is just next level! Highly recommend trying a fish/taco as well as the short rib tacos!!( not pictured because we ate them so fast!) PS they just opened a tiki bar right next door, go check it out!

We were in Paso Robles wine tasting and this place was highly recommended for their cocktails, so we stopped by for some HH drinks and a quick bite. You're able to enjoy HH anywhere in the restaurant, but it was pretty busy so we sat at the bar. We tried the Cadillac margarita and mach1 margarita, both so good. The fish tacos and ahi tuna were very fresh and flavorful. The only thing we had that wasn't great was the salsas, those lacked any flavor. Service was fast and friendly. Overall a really nice place. Would recommend if you're in the area and want Mexican food.
